I remain

rooted in place,

wanting to be your barrier.

Extending my arms

into the heavens,

in hopes that I can collect

the falling stars

for you.

I shed my clothes

to provide you

with the relief of no longer

carrying my burden,

to keep my energy

to be reborn for you.

I grew up alongside you,

but now I’m forced to leave.

You want space

for a new patio,

you never had use for me.
