The Doppelganger
I stared at him and he stared back. Reflective of my movements. Mimicking my features, as if looking in a mirror, straight brown hair and dark eyes —a doppelganger. But what does he want? I ask him what it is that I have that he doesn’t and he tells me, it’s love. Once the street lights flicker on, I leave him and return back home to my family. But he stays alone as night comes around, yearning. But for now, He waits until it’s finally his turn to take the place of someone who’s ungrateful for the love they receive.
