Smile
Sometimes a fresh spring sunrise
but sometimes the stale sand on a dreary beach.
An agitated highlighter pressed against thick stubborn ink.
A sleepy taxi cab reflecting the twilight on a hot evening.
Ripe mangos and a hungry lioness.
A thin tired poncho deflecting lively raindrops,
or the hum of a school bus.
Sour lemons carefully molded to make sweet lemonade or
at times a stinging bee.
One moment, a bright sunflower reaching
for the stars, and the next
a quiet dandelion peeking out of a crack in the sidewalk.
