Hannah O'Neill
Red leash, brown kibble pebbles, green tennis balls and leftovers
No words spoken yet so much said,
solitary suddenly comes to an end.
When I hear this sound my worries cease and with his presence I find my peace. A whisper of jingles and nails on the floor, loud barking as I close my car door.
It's a canine chorus that brings me comfort, and the candy-cane toy.
Although my socks are all over the place and most mornings I can only find one shoe.
I am never angry or aggravated, or even a tiny bit upset.
No worries of being shy because I have my companion and sidekick wandering by my side.
When the world grows old and loud, he never lets me down.
Shutting out the noise and canceling the sound.
