Quiet Burden

Meghan Roth

When I’m alone, I feel her absence.

A void that stretches through the days.

A silence that speaks louder than words.

They say life goes on, yet it feels suspended.

Each day a reminder of what was lost.

The world seems dimmer, shadows gone longer.

Her memory lingers, a ghost in the room.

I reach out, only to find emptiness.

I find a glimpse of her,

Which was never there.
