Indifference

Side by side since my heart

began to beat.

How could a bridge divide the care

one feels for another?

A car to the passengers inside,

the safety of a four thousand pound vehicle comforts;

yet the engine runs with or without.

The George Washington bridge

cuts through the river—

cuts through my heart.

Lives without bother in his domain.

From laughter to late night stories,

hiding on the roof,

and comedy movies.

A diary filled with secrets, you were to me—

no longer am I to you.

I'll graduate, will you stop by?

All I think about is spending time with you.

All you think about is the life surrounding you.

I receive college acceptance letters.

Did you know?

Do you care?

Maybe I'll also grow indifferent to you

once I move away, too.
