I Despise You

God how I despise you.

You twist my words, perverting my kindness

Pursuing your own deluded narrative of my wretchedness

Proclaiming yourself the tragic hero, enduring the pain inflicted by the keen sting of my volatility

You omit your arrogance

Your ineffectual and passive sympathy

Your dismissal of my every effort to enable your understanding

You artfully forget your inability to perceive the severity of others’s turmoil

Praising yourself for your empathy

Petulantly, vainly,

Blubbering and thrashing in search of pity,

Of the understanding which you so lack

And so, I despise you.
