Paul Chinsky
Fallen and Crushed-
Your life starts off so tall,
hanging high off the branches,
your eyes watch over the busy people rushing through
their lives, surrounded by others like yourself.
But as time passes things change.
The air chills and your body starts to shrivel,
your vibrant green gradually transforms,
and you become a deep reddish brown.
A strong gust of wind carries you off
far away onto the ground— cold and harsh.
Rumble, rumble, crunch.
The broken pieces of you are scattered.
