Ride
A hot summer that’s gone in a flash.
We ride our bikes down windy roads
Chasing down the ice cream truck
And finding stray cats under cars.
We run the stoplight,
Cars honking after us
But we don’t care.
Only pedaling ahead to the creek.
Under the cave of greenery,
The water is crisp and clean
Traveling under and over the earth
Tadpoles peaking up at the sky
Sparrows singing a sweet song
We hide in the bushes of green for hours.
