Yellow Walls

These yellow walls in my bedroom

stare back at me

like a warning sign

with the paintings

of butterflies

bunnies

and birds

it’s almost as if a

child is trapped

in these walls that confine her

cause she isn’t

a little girl no more

who can have her daddy

rock her to sleep
