My Forest

I live in an emerald world
where summer leaves fall
but Christmas trees stand
I live behind a bush
and I wear an olive dress
where I am the only one
on the ground.
I live deep in the forest
covered in moss and ivy
I swim in a viridian lake
with a turquoise toad
on a lily pad covered in rain.
I am invisible, ignored,
like the chartreuse grape
or the premature apple picked first off the tree
I write on the dirty chalkboard
while others write on the new.
But I live in my emerald world
where the summer leaves fall on me
I own the ground
the bush is mine
and the dress is one of a kind.
