-To all those who are lost in thought/ "The False Self" Julia de Burgos

Mirror mirror dark as night

her pale skin, here, to give fright

when her kala skin moves, the rosey line

parts.

Mirror mirror my lips are sown

holding the needle in his hand

she smiles back maliciously.

Mirror mirror white teeth

on white skin, specks of blood dripping

Down her lips, running through her hands,

ripped clothes and black, ooze-gunk dripping down the mirror.

She takes one last look, puts in her scarf and

walks out the door.

Kala- dark/black/dirty
